The low pressure over the Bay of Bengal has advanced. By midnight on Monday, it was located 1995 km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar seaport, which is likely to intensify further. Meanwhile, the country’s four seaports have been asked to display the number one remote warning signal.

This has been said in the weather bulletin number 2 on Tuesday morning.

According to the special notification, the depression located in Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has moved west-northwestward and is now located in Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. It was 2060 km south-southwest of Chittagong seaport, 1995 km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar seaport, 1995 km south-southwest of Mongla seaport and 1970 km south-southwest of Payra seaport on Monday midnight. It may move further west-northwestward and intensify.

The notification also said that maximum sustained wind speed is 40 kmph within 44 km of the low pressure center, increasing to 50 kmph in the form of gusty winds. The ocean is rough in the area near the low pressure center.

In view of low pressure, the Meteorological Department has asked Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports to show remote warning signal number one.

Besides, all fishing boats and trawlers operating in North Bay of Bengal and deep sea have been asked to move cautiously close to the coast until further notice.
