AFCON 2025Q: We’ll Give 150 Percent Vs Super Eagles -Amavubi Captain Bizimana

Amavubi of Rwanda captain, Djihad Bizimana, has declared the team’s readiness to go all out for a win against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Torsten Spittler’s side will be up against the Super Eagles in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday two encounter at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles are the favourites to win game going by their pedigree as one of the best teams on the continent.

Bizimana is however upbeat they can claim a famous win against their star-studded opponent.

“we are going to give 150%. It would be difficult for us if we do less than that,” the Kryvbas midfielder told reporters  at a press conference on Monday.

“We know that we are going to play against a tough team but all I am asking Rwandans is to come and support us. They won’t go back home disappointed.”

The Amavubi will be playing their first official game at the newly renovated Amahoro Stadium.

The ground was recently upgraded to international standard.

The new-look ground was officially inaugurated on July 1, 2024, with Rwandan champions APR and Police FC playing a ceremonial game.

APR won the game 1-0, with Mugisha Gilbert scoring the decisive goal. They also went home with the trophy named Amahoro Stadium Inauguration Trophy.

Bizimana stated that playing at the beautiful edifice will inspire him and his teammates rather than intimidate them.

“Playing in such a beautiful stadium will not intimidate us, but rather it will give us additional strength that uplifts us,” he added.

“We are grateful to the President of the Republic (Paul Kegame) who gave it to us. We assure Rwandans that we will give 150% of our efforts, and everything will go well.”
