Booking lists for the car developed by Sony and Honda have been opened. Prices for the Afeela start at just under $90,000.
Sony Honda Mobility announced at its CES 2025 press conference that pre-orders are officially open for its upcoming Afeela 1 EV. The sedan focused on autonomy and entertainment will be sold for $89,900 for the Origin specification and $102,900 for the top Signature trim level, reports CNET.
The Vision-S concept first appeared on the scene in 2020, with the Afeela name announced in 2023. The biggest news of the day on Monday was the pricing announcement and the opening of pre-orders in anticipation of spring 2026 deliveries.
Top trims, priced at $102,900, will be the first to come with a full range of technology and options – from dual rear-seat entertainment, 21-inch wheels and a choice of exterior and interior colors (grey, white and black). The cheaper Origin models don’t get the rear-seat dual-screen infotainment system, use 19-inch wheels and are painted black only. Deliveries for the base version of the Afeela begin in 2027.
Afeela is a car that puts technology first
Regardless of the equipment level, the Afeela uses a 91 kWh battery pack, and the estimated range reaches about 480 km. Also, each car can charge up to 150 kW.
Each copy will benefit from the Afeela Intelligent Drive assistance suite and the Afeela Personal Assistant, an artificial intelligence unit that will communicate with users. Also included in the standard is the huge digital panel, which stretches across the board from one pillar to the other. Unreal Engine was used for its interface.
Sony tells us that the Afeela will feature 40 sensors for its driver assistance systems and will have what it calls “one-touch, end-to-end” autonomous driving. In short, a person will be able to get into the car and, using voice commands, tell the car what their desired destination is, and the car will do the rest, or at least that’s the company’s vision.
