Amazfit launched the new T-Rex 3 smartwatch at IFA Berlin 2024. It promises durability, superior battery life and advanced features.
Design and construction
The 45mm case is made from a military-grade polymer, while the octagonal dial is made from stainless steel. Water resistance of 10 ATM makes it suitable for diving up to 100 meters deep.
The four textured buttons on the right allow easy operation even without looking at the screen.
Display and performance
The circular AMOLED panel has a diagonal of 1.5 inches and offers 16% more display area compared to the previous version. In addition, protection against scratches is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The maximum brightness of 2000 nits rivals the latest models from Samsung and Google. The T-Rex 3 is equipped with a ZPS3044 processor, 64 MB of RAM and 32 GB of storage space. It runs Amazfit’s own operating system, Zepp OS 4.
Features and AI assistant
The operating system offers offline maps, support for third-party Bluetooth accessories such as speakers or action cameras, compatibility with Bluetooth accessories, and more than 400 watch faces.
The watch also has an assistant called Zepp Flow AI that uses OpenAI’s GPT-4.
The watch has 170 sports modes and can monitor a wide range of parameters: from heart rate and blood oxygen level to VO2 Max and HRV. The new model also introduces advanced training metrics like heart rate variability and fitness level.
Autonomy and charging
The company claims that the smartwatch works up to 13 days under heavy use or up to 27 days under normal conditions.
In battery saving mode, the watch can last even 40 days. The autonomy increases up to 42 hours with the dual-band GPS continuously activated. All this is possible thanks to the generous 700 mAh battery, although its charging time is 3 hours.
Navigation and other functions
Users have free access to offline maps, including topographic maps, and turn-by-turn navigation directions. There is also the Zepp Pay option for contactless payments in Europe.
Price and competition
With a starting price of 299 euros in Europe, the new model is positioned as an alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, which costs around 704 euros on the official website.
