Chapainawabganj Sonamsjid land port has resumed import-export operations from Saturday after being closed for 6 consecutive days. Cargo trucks have started entering Sonamsjid land port from Mahdipur land port in India since this morning.
Sonamsjid Land Port Import-Export Group Executive Member Alamgir Jewel confirmed this.
He said that the importers and exporters had stopped the import and export from last Sunday morning by accusing Panama Port Link Limited of various irregularities including extra money. Later, the concerned authorities of Panama Port Link Limited – importers – exporters sat with the Deputy Commissioner and resolved it properly, the land port was opened from today.
However, if Panama Port Link Limited operates in the previous position, the importer-exporter will be in a tough position again, said Alamgir Jewell.
Meanwhile, Mainul Islam, manager of Panama Port Link Limited, said, ‘Panama’s operations were on, but no cargo truck from India entered the port.’
