After a long hiatus, it was Lexicon professional day again

We are now talking about the ninth time, and there was no shortage of business hardware.

The Exicom Informatika Kerskedőház Kft. after a longer absence due to Covid-19, organized the Lexicon professional day for the ninth time. The event in Szeged is already known to offer interesting things to those interested in business hardware, and this time companies such as Motorola, Lenovo, Canon, Dahua, ASUS, Epson, iCentre and TP-Link were represented. .

Motorola and Lenovo started the day, and that’s not surprising because the former company is a subsidiary of the latter. Understandably, Motorola presented smartphones and wants to gain a larger share in Europe, since they are not yet as present here as they are in the United States, where they are still on the podium.

Lenovo made two presentations, the second one was primarily about the currently popular Copilot+ certified PCs, and the presentation itself was largely made by artificial intelligence. Well, there is still room for improvement here, and the company representative did not deny this either, but AI itself can serve as a valuable tool in the preparation of presentations, but it is not worth entrusting everything to it. Although it probably won’t be new to many, it should be noted that Lenovo has started to adapt the keyboard a bit for notebooks. As is known, the manufacturer previously swapped the Fn and Ctrl keys, but there was such pressure from the market that they now vote for the standard position, but at the same time classic operation can be optionally requested in the BIOS.

At the corporate level, the part concerning the servers was perhaps more interesting, within which the manufacturer emphasized that the availability of their own solutions is the best, that is, unplanned shutdowns occur least frequently with systems classified in the ThinkSystem family. The company also mentioned the Neptune liquid cooling solution, which can significantly reduce energy consumption compared to traditional methods, while enabling a more compact design. In domestic terms, the factory in Aulő is also especially useful, as the work can be carried out within national borders from design to installation.

The presentation by ASUS moved along a similar line, as far as notebooks are concerned; the company employee focused on the ExpertBook series intended for the business line, which offers a longer warranty period, simpler expandability, large company security functions, and a durable design than models intended for end users. This is connected to the desktop product line called ExpertCentre, as well as the Copilot+ certified mobile options, all of which offer Qualcomm, AMD and Intel AI platforms.

Since the coronavirus epidemic, the printer market has changed somewhat, which is mostly due to the spread of the home office. Statistically, it can be shown that the number of prints necessary for the operation of companies has dropped significantly, and in fact the level before the 2020s will never return. For this reason, both Canon and Epson are consolidating, that is, they are advocating a rethinking of the existing printing facilities, since it is quite typical these days that the printer capacity established before the global pandemic is no longer needed, so it would be enough to maintain fewer devices, which would improve office efficiency.

For this, Epson offers a particularly strong office offer, as the WorkForce AM-C400 and AM-C550 ink-jet linear head solutions work with print speeds of 40 and 55 pages per minute and provide a wide range of configuration options.

Dahua, which mainly specializes in the production and development of video surveillance systems, was also represented, including various network cameras and network video recorders (NVR), and the portfolio also included smart building solutions with integrated security systems that allow remote access and management.

TP-Link may be familiar to many, as they are growing into a bigger and bigger player in the network devices market, and their presence in the business solutions segment is getting stronger as well. This is based on their Omada systems, and it should be emphasized that the failure rate of the Omada controller is practically a non-existent factor. The further development of this direction is Omada Pro, which is more scalable, offers more advanced management options and higher performance. In addition to network solutions, the company also offers monitoring systems, which is useful from the point of view that, in case of larger orders, TP-Link can cover almost all needs from its own wellhead.

Apple’s solutions were also represented by iCentre, which mostly presented the fact that apple developments can be used in the business sphere as well. Specifically, Apple Business and School Manager, as well as Mosyle’s business and school solutions, with the help of which ideal device management can be provided for the user environment, were focused on.
