A little earlier today, we told you about Lazarusthe next original anime from the MAPPA studio scheduled for 2025. But there is another title from the famous Japanese animation studio which is also due to be released next year, and fans were able to get a new glimpse of this original project .
The next gem from MAPPA?
Among the most internationally recognized animation studios, we find Toei Animation, to whom we owe certain monuments of Japanese animation such as Dragon Ball et One Piece. But there is also Pierrot, known among other things for Naruto et Bleachwithout obviously forgetting Studio Ghibli, co-founded by the famous Hayao Miyazaki.
And since the rise in popularity of anime in recent years, other studios have also made a name for themselves among the general public. This is particularly the case for MAPPA. Founded in 2011 by a veteran of the Madhouse studio, MAPPA has built a solid reputation thanks to numerous projects that have left their mark on fans. We can then cite Yuri on Icebut also Gambling School or even Dorohedoro.
However, it is from 2020 that the studio’s notoriety will reach new heightsthanks to Jujutsu Kaisen as well as the Final Season of Attack on Titan. Subsequently, MAPPA continued its momentum with other very popular titles, such as Chainsaw Manseason 2 of Vinland Saga, Hell’s Paradiseand more.
And if the Japanese studio is renowned for the quality of its animated adaptations, it also regularly offers original anime. Recently, fans were able to discover the animated film maboroshi or the anime Bucchigiri. And before the release of Lazarusthey will also be able to discover another project of this type: ZENSHU.
Announced last March, ZENSHU is therefore the next original production of MAPPA. Here is the synopsis shared by Crunchyroll:
Natsuko Hirose began her career as an animator after receiving her bachelor’s degree. Making her directorial debut, her talent quickly blossomed. Her first anime was a huge success, sparking a social phenomenon and earning her the recognition she deserved as a genius director in the making. Her next project is a romantic comedy about first love, but having never been in love, Natsuko struggles to understand the concept of first love and is unable to create the story, which stops production of the film.
And on the occasion of New York Comic Con, fans were able to discover a world premiere of a new trailer for ZENSHUthus allowing us to have a unique insight into this new anime, including release is scheduled for January 2025.
