A large amount of information stolen in the cyber attack against Kumla municipality has been published on the Darknet, local media reports.

“We take this very seriously and we know that it is likely to be about our data. I understand that it can cause concern among both employees and citizens in Kumla and this is of course very unfortunate,” says municipal director Gabriella Mueller Prabin in a comment on the municipality’s website.

She further says that the municipality is working “to get an overall picture of the situation”.

The cyber attack was discovered in early November and led to the shutdown of all IT systems last week. The systems have since begun to reopen.

Last week, the municipality also pressed for money so that stolen information would not be leaked.
