(Seoul = Newsis) Intern Reporter Jeong Seo-hyeon = The rooftop cement secret store case and the online shopping mall fraud case are highlighted.

In SBS TV’s ‘Curious Story Y’, which airs at 9 p.m. on the 8th, a scene is depicted where a construction contractor who was carrying out water leak work on the veranda of the rooftop of a villa building in Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do on August 30 encounters a shocking scene.

When the cement structure of the rooftop veranda was broken with a drill, the body of an adult woman was discovered inside a suitcase.

The culprit was arrested 20 days after the body was discovered. It was Mr. Kim (male), 58 years old, who previously lived in the rooftop room of the building.

Mr. Kim confessed that he murdered a woman he lived with in 2008, 16 years ago, and then secretly buried the victim in the rooftop veranda space. The public’s shock grew even greater when it was revealed that he had been living in the studio for about eight years until 2016, before he was arrested on drug charges.

And a while later, a phone call came from the production team.

The person who called was the older brother of the deceased victim, Jeong Ju-hee (pseudonym). Joo-hee, who was 33 years old at the time of death. Joo-hee’s brother, who had never even heard Kim’s name, let alone seen her face, before hearing the news of her death from the police, said he had no idea why his youngest brother was murdered.

Mr. Kim claimed that he committed the crime accidentally after seeing Joo-hee, with whom he was in a romantic relationship, with another man. However, Joo-hee’s family said there was something strange about it. It was because of the phone call Joo-hee had with her mother around that time.

Joo-hee said she was having a hard time because she was defrauded by an acquaintance and became penniless. After much persuasion from her mother and family, Joohee decided to return to her family. Joo-hee said that she suddenly lost contact from the next day. There was another person who heard a similar story.

The production team was able to meet Joo-hee’s friend Mi-young (pseudonym), who was the last person to contact her before her death. Miyoung, who had just learned that her friend had died, clearly remembered the conversation she had with Joohee 16 years ago.

Joo-hee suddenly came to see Mi-young one day with bruises all over her body. She expressed her frustration, saying that Mr. Kim was borrowing money in her name and was holding her back from leaving through violence and threats. Joo-hee disappeared in 2008 after receiving a call saying that she had finally paid off all her debts and was returning to her hometown.

The production team introduced, “We will find out what happened to Joo-hee that day.”

‘Curious Story Y’ also learns about the online shopping mall that lied about the national side dish kimchi.

Last month, ahead of the kimchi season, the price of cabbage soared and it was called ‘golden cabbage’, so the so-called ‘Gimpo people’ who gave up kimchi appeared. Miyeon (pseudonym), who was worried for the same reason, happened to come across an advertisement for an agricultural products shopping mall on a famous portal site.

It was a special advertisement selling domestically produced kimchi at a lower price than the market price. Miyeon purchased 10 kg of kimchi from a shopping mall after hearing that the ingredient label was made public and that kimchi was made with cabbage freshly brought in from the farm immediately after ordering.

However, 10 days after purchase, there was no news of delivery of kimchi, and the customer service phone number listed on the website was ineffective. Miyeon was devastated when she finally found out that she had been scammed.

Due to advertising on famous portal sites and applications with many users, the number of victims increased exponentially. The confirmed number of victims spread across the country was in the thousands, and the estimated damage was close to 600 million won.

Sanghee (pseudonym), a fraud victim, said that the shopping mall advertisement was posted on a famous portal site and that she believed it after seeing numerous reviews on the website. I even felt grateful when I received a text message from the shopping mall informing me that delivery of kimchi would be delayed due to cabbage supply issues and that they would send me tangerines as well.

The kimchi ingredient labels and photos posted on shopping malls were so crude that anyone in the industry would know that they were false. In addition, CEO Seo (pseudonym) is said to have calmly responded to numerous protest calls from victims by discussing refunds.

The production team was able to meet Mr. Seo after extensive investigation. The production crew welcomed him warmly and complained that he was not a fraudster but a victim of identity theft.

The production team asked, “Is Mr. Seo really another victim as he claimed? Or is he the real perpetrator who disappeared after stealing hundreds of millions of won? Please watch the broadcast.”
