Episode 1: “La Paloma”
Athens, spring 1937. Maria, Litsa and Tzaki arrive by ship from New York at the port of Piraeus. In Athens, the three women encounter insurmountable difficulties, for this reason, Litsa hopes for the financial help of her mother, Frosos.
In the meantime, Maria wants to sell her father’s patent, a cream for gingivitis, and with this money bring him to Greece. Litsa pressures Maria to participate in the “La Paloma” audition, organized by the famous Spanish voice teacher Elvira de Hidalgo.

Episode 2: “The Little Lead Soldier”
Athens – spring 1941. World War II has begun. The Italians have settled in Athens. At the conservatory, the Greeks promote their own female singers undermining 17-year-old Maria.
Litsa enlists the help of Bonalti, an Italian general, who is excited by Maria’s voice. However, Maria does not want to cooperate with the enemy and moreover falls in love with Robert, an English soldier.
