After the iPhone 16, two Android smartphone makers are working on new camera buttons

There is suddenly a lot of interest in the creation of new camera shutter buttons in the world of smartphones, it is already rumored that two Android device manufacturers could soon offer this new function.

Nubia president Ni Fei claimed on Weibo that the upcoming Nubia Z70 Ultra smartphone will offer a “more realistic” camera button. The executive also confirmed to a follower that this would be a two-stage button, seemingly allowing you to focus with a half press and shoot with a full press.

Nubia is not the only Android phone manufacturer that made Apple jealous, something similar will be copied by Oppo to carry it as a special feature in the new Find X8 series.

A tipster previously reported that OPPO’s Find X8 series will copy the iPhone 16 and offer a so-called Quick Button to “freeze the action”. It’s unclear if this would be a standard physical shutter button or if it would support gestures like the iPhone 16’s button. Apple’s custom camera control key has two stages of operation and also supports swipe gestures for actions like zooming in and out.

It almost goes without saying that long before Apple there have been companies that have never stopped adding dedicated photo capture buttons to their devices, for example Sony still offers a custom two-step capture button on the recent Xperia 1 VI and older models . However, the iPhone’s swipe gestures are a handy addition to the legacy button.
