American stock markets opened with a small increase, the Dow and S&P 500 rose by 0.2 percent, while the Nasdaq is up by 0.1 percent.
All three indexes could end the week strong, thanks in large part to Wednesday’s rally sparked by President-elect Donald Trump’s victory. The S&P 500 is up about 4.4 percent and the Dow is up 4.2 percent so far, putting both indexes on track for their best week since November 2023. The Nasdaq outperforms even these movements, rallying 5.7 percent by Thursday’s close.
