While most manufacturers are focusing their attention on foldable smartphones, HUAWEI seems to be going one step further: the company is preparing a foldable tablet for 2025.
According to sources on the social network Weibo, this could be a fusion between a classic tablet and a PC.
HUAWEI: A new product category
According to recently leaked information, the new device could cost around 1,314 euros, although the final price will depend on the specifications and technical features included.
What makes this product special is that it could remove the boundaries between a foldable tablet and a foldable laptop, thus creating a new product category.
The device will most likely run the HarmonyOS PC operating system, which was developed in-house by the HUAWEI team.
Bold promises for 2025
Yu Chengdong, president of HUAWEI’s Consumer Business division, recently made some statements that have sparked the curiosity of all brand fans.
In a video also posted on China’s Weibo social network, he said 2024 was the first year the company really returned to the battle for supremacy in the smartphone market after a total of five years of sanctions.
Moreover, in 2025 we will see products that “beyond imagination”, which may mean that this foldable tablet could be one of them.
Mate XT and HarmonyOS NEXT
HUAWEI has already demonstrated its ability to innovate by launching the world’s first tri-folding phone, the Mate XT, which is set to be available globally in the first quarter of 2025.
The company also managed to develop its own operating system, HarmonyOS NEXT, as well as the Mate 70 series, with many brand new features.
HUAWEI’s strategy for the future
At the annual consumer meeting, which will be held in Shenzhen on December 28-30, 2024, the company will provide more details about all its plans.
The theme of the event is “Colorful World”, which suggests that HUAWEI is preparing a diverse range of products.
In addition to the possible foldable tablet, other major releases are expected, such as the Pura 80 series or maybe even a new triple-folding phone model.
