New AI satire starts later this year. “Fake News” is moderated by Linda Zervakis.
Linda Zervakis actually moved from the ARD “Tagesschau” to ProSiebenSat.1 in order to moderate a new weekly journal together with Matthias Opdenhövel. But “Zervakis & Opdenhövel. Live” didn’t work on Monday at prime time, nor as the lead-out of “TV total” on Wednesday around 9:30 p.m. Consequently, the show was broadcast in December 2023. A new Zervakis format followed around a year later at ProSieben. Those responsible at ProSieben had repeatedly emphasized that they were working on a new program with Zervakis.
The result can now be seen on December 18th, also a Wednesday and also after “TV total”, i.e. at 9:25 p.m.: The AI satire “Fake News”, produced by Brainpool, which is also for “TV total “is responsible. In the format, Zervakis presents surprisingly false news: “Donald Trump is learning German? Alice Weidel wants to ban food with “ö” and “ü”? Karl Lauterbach challenges Markus Söder and threatens further legalization? If it’s fake, then it’s right!” writes ProSieben in a statement. “Fake News” will of course also be available on the Joyn streaming service.
ProSieben channel boss Hannes Hiller says: “With ‘Fake News – Everything is a lie and a lie’, ProSieben is taking a new step in comedy. The satirical show is the first on German TV to openly and transparently use AI to create videos and not leave viewers with the question: ‘Really true?’ No, here you can be liberated and laugh without a doubt: it’s all ‘fake news’! And that with Linda Zervakis, Katrin Bauerfeind and Benni Stark – what a gift, even before Christmas.”
“Fake News” – more episodes in 2025 on ProSieben
This year, as expected given the calendar, it will remain the only “fake news” episode. In 2025, ProSieben announces, “Fake News – Everything is a lie and a lie” will go into series production. ProSieben didn’t say anything more, but the format will probably remain part of Comedy Wednesday. Programs like “Quatsch Comedy Show” and soon a live edition of “World Wide Living Room” are already running there.
