More than ever, Elon Musk is determined to set foot on Mars and colonize the distant planet. NASA unveils a photo of our Earth taken from Mars

What was for decades only a science fiction fantasy is becoming more and more concrete. Mars, which is some 62 million kilometers from our good old Earth, is considered to be the most accessible planet of ours in the Solar Systemalthough we are talking about colossal distances. While Elon Musk’s interstellar dreams make our arrival and colonization more and more realistic, NASA has just released a photo of our world taken from the surface of Mars. Enough to give you a taste of what human beings may one day see with their own eyes from the inhospitable soil of this red, rocky and desert planet.

POV: You’re on Mars, looking up at the night sky and you notice…

That’s Phobos, one of Mars’ two moons – and the tiny evening “star” to its right is Earth! It’s the first time I’ve captured them together in a photo. #ObserveTheMoon pic.twitter.com/VBXSO15AC6

Several NASA rovers exploring Mars have taken a historic snapshot, itself composed of several photos. The view you see above is the result of adding 5 images taken during a short exposure to which 12 images were added captured during longer exposures.

An incredible mise en abyme, what do you think?
