Amazon launches its AI shopping assistant Rufus in more countries in Europe and North and South America. This is included in the latest version of the Amazon Shopping app.
The e-commerce giant first tested Rufus in the US in February, and rolled it out for the US market five months later. In the intervening months, a beta version of the AI assistant has been launched in India and the UK.
This week, Amazon expanded availability to Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
The AI chatbot is trained on an arsenal of Amazon data, including customer reviews and product catalogs, and others to answer shoppers’ questions in natural language, such as, “Can you recommend some great gifts for kids under 5?” or ‘compare different types of coffee makers.’
Amazon emphasizes that this is an early iteration of Rufus and the assistant makes mistakes.
