The AI Extensions could answer questions for creators in DMs and stories. The AI Studio is free and easy to use, but not for everyone. Meanwhile, Instagram is also offering a new invite option via the story format.
Instagram creators will be able to create two types of AI in the future thanks to the new Meta AI Studio: Creator AIs and AI Characters. These quasi-AI avatars are designed to take work off their hands. They can answer basic questions in the story or DM context and, for example, also ensure greater reach for the account. And users don’t have to pay extra or have extensive tech knowledge for this.
AI creation on Instagram with Meta’s AI Studio: Characters based on interests
On Instagram, platform boss Adam Mosseri explains in a video what advantages creators will receive thanks to the new AI Studio features. However, there is a downside for many interested parties. The new AI Studio is only available in the USA for the time being. There, creators will have the option of accessing the functions via AI chats via DM. The Creator AIs can then also be found via the Professional Dashboard. About the Creator AIs Mosseri:
(…) Creator AIs are an option for creators to create an extension of themself that is customized based on everything that they’ve shared to Instagram and any other customizations they want to do. For instance, you can tell it what topics you want it to talk about. An you can put this on your profile and it’s a way to reach more people. I answer a lot of the same questions over and over, how verification works, how ranking works, how Instagram works. And this can be a way for anybody to go to my profile and message with that AI and get answers to their questions without having to go through all of my old videos (…).
The AI characters, in turn, can be created based on interests by anyone who would like to create AI avatars.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had already announced the AI avatars that can be developed via the AI Studio. At the end of July followed the US roll-out of MetaThe company announced that the AI Studio relies on Llama 3.1 as a high-performance AI model.

Invite even more users to Instagram – via Story Mention
To ensure that even more people can see the AI developments on the platform and interact with them, for example in a DM or story context, Instagram recently launched a new invite option into the test phase. Social media expert Lindsey Gamble reports that the first users in stories can select contacts via the Mention Sticker and invite them to Instagram if they do not appear in the in-app search.
