On my signal, unleash hell. The famous phrase pronounced by Massimo Decimo Meridio, masterfully played by Russell Crowe, in Ridley Scott’s cult film becomes reality. Coinciding with the release of the sequel Gladiator II also filmed by the English director, Airbnb in fact, it presents an experience inside the Colosseum in Rome.
Theater of epic battles, the iconic arena returns to host “fights” for the first time in almost two thousand years: anyone who wants can book a session at the Colosseum starting November 27th at 3pm until December 10th at 8.59am on airbnb.com/gladiatormovie. The free experiences of three hours will be held on 7 and 8 May 2025. The maximum number of participants in the experience is 16 people, divided into 8 couples.
The warriors will meet the challenger in front of the Colosseum after sunset and will enter the arena with him, then descend into the hypogeum, the underground spaces where the gladiators prepared for battle. Here they will wear thearmor to assume the identity of some of the most famous types of gladiators (Myrmilloni, Thrace, provocateur, reziari, contrarete) in preparation for the fight.
Then they will cross the labyrinthine bowels of the Colosseum and retrace the historic steps of Maximus Decimus Meridius and countless other warriors who fought here before them. They will be able to taste foods such as grapes, pomegranates, almonds and walnuts, they will listen to the symphony of swords and shields expert gladiators who will face each other in an exciting demonstration, just for them. Finally the training before the battle judged by a the sum of the rawthe arbiter who will determine everyone’s fate.
