European aircraft manufacturer Airbus announced this Wednesday that its net profit reached 1,808 million euros in the first nine months, a drop of 22% compared to the same period in 2023.
The drop in profit was justified by extraordinary charges in the space division in the first half of the year.
Between January and September, revenue reached R$44,514 million, an increase of 5%.
Operating profit decreased by 23% in this period, to 2,798 million euros, the company detailed in a statement cited by the EFE agency.
In the third quarter, Airbus’ turnover rose 5% to 15,689 million euros and operating profit increased 39% to 1,407 million euros.
“In the first nine months we saw strong demand across our product range,” said Airbus Chief Executive Guillaume Faury.
For the year as a whole, Airbus said it expects to achieve an operating profit of 5,500 million euros, with the delivery of 770 commercial aircraft.
Two weeks ago, Airbus announced that it will eliminate 2,500 jobs in its Defense and Space division, a process that will last until mid-2026 and assured that this will be done with “social measures”, suggesting that there will be no layoffs.
