AirPods 4 will have two different versions
The last time Apple hosted a major event was in May 2024 with the official unveiling of the iPad Pro with OLED display, the iPad Air with M2 chip and the Apple Pencil Pro. The next major keynote will take place in mid-September and will not only welcome the four new models of iPhone 16but also to some AirPods 4 and the launch of new software updatesas well as other surprises…
Apple has been developing AirPods 4 with great new features. But this time the company wanted to approach your marketing strategy in a different wayApple will introduce two versions of the AirPods 4 with a base model that will replace the AirPods 2 and a more advanced model that will replace the AirPods 3.
And what will be the main difference between the two versions of AirPods 4? The Active Noise CancellationOtherwise, in theory and according to Mark Gurman, they will have an identical design and share other audio features.
Another possible difference between both versions –and this is my own– could lie in the use of silicone pads for the more advanced AirPods 4 model. Although this would increase its price even further, so it is unlikely.
Apple’s AirPods 3 are great value for money
On the other hand, it is also expected that the fourth generation of Apple AirPods will make its transition to USB-C port in the charging case of both versions of the product.
AirPods 4 are rumored to have a design that combines features of the AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro 2, incorporating a chip H2 with a new low distortion audio driver, improvements to Spatial Audio and a battery with greater autonomy.
What we don’t know at the moment is what approach Apple has come up with for the naming of the two versions of AirPods 4. But in no case should we confuse these new wireless earphones with the third-generation AirPods Pro, given that they will be launched in 2025.
Maybe they are called AirPods 4 Lite y AirPods 4 or a similar name. Or both models will simply be called AirPods 4 and differentiated by mentioning active noise cancellation. This seems the most likely.
Currently Apple is still selling its AirPods 2, which are still very much worth buying in 2024, and its AirPods 3. The AirPods 2 are available for 149 euros, although On Amazon you can buy them for 119 euros and AirPods 3 have a base price of 199 euros in the Apple Store.
