AirPods Pro 2 get a new update and support the health functions of iOS 18.1

At its relatively recent event, Apple had no intention of introducing a new model of AirPods Pro, but did not neglect to perform a series of exciting upgrades for the existing model AirPods Pro 2. Now, a new software update has started rolling out for AirPods Pro 2, bringing with it a new set of hearing health features.

The new firmware is coming just in time, with iOS 18 .1 coming next week

As mentioned above, this update introduces support for some exciting new health features, including:

  • Hearing enhancement
  • Hearing protection

The Apple Hearing Test lets you get scientifically-backed hearing test results right from your living room, tailored for people aged 18 and over. In addition, AirPods Pro 2 are now approved to work as an over-the-counter hearing aid in the US, making it easier for people with hearing loss to understand conversations and sounds around them.

The update also introduces a feature “Hearing Protection” that keeps tabs on your environment to reduce the impact of loud sounds. Just a heads up, this feature will only be available in the US and Canada upon initial release.

Speaking at the same time about the new iOS 18.1we expect to see it next week, volon Monday, October 28. For the most part, this update primarily highlights Apple Intelligence – with a range of productive AI tools – also ensures that AirPods Pro 2’s hearing health features are fully compatible.

The new firmware for AirPods Pro 2, labeled build number 7B19, now available to users everywhere. However, to unlock these new hearing health features, you’ll also need to update to iOS 18 .1.
