Airport Railroad Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Airport Railroad) announced on the 22nd that it had conducted a final inspection on the first train (the first car among 9 trains) among 9 new trains for the ‘Airport Railroad Increase Project’ before shipment from the manufacturing plant.
The ‘Airport Railroad Increase Project’ is a project being promoted by the Airport Railroad to reduce congestion on trains and platforms by additionally operating 9 new trains in 2025, and to shorten the operating interval during times when users are concentrated to 4 minutes.
For this final inspection, Park Dae-su, CEO of Airport Railroad, and other personnel in charge of related fields visited the Hyundai Rotem factory (located in Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do) for two days from the 21st to the 22nd.
The inspection team first checked the body process, such as ▲ appearance deformation and damage ▲ structural stability of the wheels ▲ appearance and color, of the 9 new trains under production, and also directly checked ▲ indoor facilities ▲ rooftop facilities of the train. In addition, the process of conducting pre-shipment quality inspection on ▲train control system, ▲running system, ▲cooling, heating and ventilation system, and ▲broadcasting system of the first batch ahead of the first shipment was closely examined.
Starting with this initial batch, a total of 9 new electric trains for the Airport Railroad are scheduled to be shipped sequentially, and will begin commercial operation in mid-2025 after a thorough verification process such as preliminary driving tests and test runs.
The newly manufactured electric train is a semi-high-speed train that has significantly improved speed compared to existing trains and can run up to 150 km per hour, which is 40 km per hour faster than the train currently in operation. It is the vehicle with the highest speed specifications among domestic urban railways. .
In addition, by introducing the ‘Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) system’, the occurrence of failures in major devices can be identified in real time. ▲High-speed single arm current collector ▲Improved braking performance through the use of wheel disks ▲For noise blocking Application of plug-in door ▲Safety has been significantly improved through installation of uninterrupted emergency broadcasting equipment. In addition, user convenience is greatly improved by ▲expanding the seat width (436mm → 480mm) ▲installation of door opening/closing notifications ▲installation of air purifier/ultraviolet sterilizer, etc.
Park Dae-su, CEO of the Airport Railroad, said, “The Airport Railroad train expansion project was prepared in 2019 to solve the problem of congestion within the train and began production in 2022. Starting with the shipment of the first train on November 28, new electric trains will be built by next year (2025). Once all 9 trains are deployed and operational operations begin, congestion within the train is expected to be greatly alleviated, and not only the safety of train operation but also user convenience will be further improved. “I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
