On Tuesday (July 16) in Chittagong, two people named Wasim Akram (22) and a pedestrian Farooq (32) were killed in a clash with protestors and Chhatra League in Muradpur area.
Deceased Wasim Akram’s house is in South Mehernama Bazar Para area of Ward No. 9 of Pekua Upazila Sadar Union of Cox’s Bazar.
The deceased Wasim Akram is the son of Shafiul Alam and Jotsana Akhtar of that area. Wasim is 2nd among 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
He is a 2017 SSC batch student of Sadar Union Mehernama High School and a 3rd year student of Social Science Department of Chittagong College.
It is known that Wasim Akram is a member of the convening committee of Chhatra Dal of Chittagong College and a member of the convening committee of Pekua Upazila Chhatra Dal.
Eyewitnesses said that at the beginning of the clash, they attacked with batons, but later firing and cocktail explosions started. A few gunmen are seen firing. At this time, the students dispersed. Later they started throwing bricks. The chase continued like this.
Traffic on CDA Avenue, the city’s busiest road, came to a standstill when the clashes broke out. Common people started running around in panic. When some part of the students entered the Olligli, they were tracked down and attacked from there.
