The opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games is to be held in an unusual way on the Seine River.
The website of the association informed about the strike readiness of the artists. The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11. Almost 3,000 artists will take part in the opening of the Games, which will take place on the Seine River.
“We regret to announce that we are forced to issue a strike warning during the performance on July 26, 2024, as well as during the upcoming rehearsals for the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games,” the statement said.
The union is unhappy with the pay conditions for the artists hired to perform at the ceremony. In particular, they are not satisfied with the difference for copyright in connection with the broadcast of performances by dancers, which range from 60 to 1,610 euros.
The union also demands compensation for accommodation and transport costs for all artists who live more than 40 kilometers from the center of the French capital.
In its message, the association turns to the Paname24 agency, which organizes the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, as well as to the organizing committee of the Games.
They had already been offered an open dialogue by the association with the aim of finding acceptable solutions, but the two sides have not yet reached an agreement in the negotiations.
