The supermarket chain Aldi, which according to official data from research by the Choice organization has the best prices for food products this year, has decided to enter the field of traditional travel companies. Last Wednesday, this company launched its new business – a wide range of holiday travel.

Aldi Holdings offers customers a range of short breaks, cruises and travel arrangements to Australian and international destinations. The popular company based in Germany believes that travelers from Australia will be able to enjoy additional amenities to make their vacations more pleasant and attractive. This applies to better quality rooms or to client-tailored holidays or special flights.

Aldi Group Director for Australia Rodney Belek said the new venture, a first for the brand from the Australian supermarket market, offers travelers a range of offers, from premium to lowest prices.

– We are excited to be moving in a new direction to make holiday planning and booking a more enjoyable experience for Australians and in our signature, good different way with Aldi Holdings. This service will reveal incredible value and help all types of travelers to achieve truly unforgettable experiences – said Belek.

Similar to Aldi’s twice weekly specials, there will be a limited number of exclusive holiday offers.

Ryan Thomas, CEO of partner company Ignite Travel, said many Australians were choosing to holiday close to home, while a record number of international cruises were secured.

– Aldi shoppers can expect incredible savings with these exclusively curated holiday packages, including flights, local experiences and more. We are excited about the future of our partnership with Aldi – emphasized Tomas.

He also said that these trips can be booked online or through Aldi’s dedicated sales centre.

Quentin Long, from the Australian Traveler magazine, believes that this move should offer tourists more competition and lower prices. He also expects traditional companies to closely monitor Aldi.

– The two companies that I think will be watching this most carefully are probably Luxury Escapes and TripAdvisor. This is absolutely in their domain and it will be very competitive for them – said Long.

Cruise offer

Among the deals available are seven nights in Phuket, a Thai island, from $599 per person in a double room, as well as five nights at Daydream Island Resort, Whitsundays, from $899 per person.

Cruisers can enjoy a 14-day Celebrity X cruise around Japan, priced at $4,990, or a nine-night Royal Caribbean Cruise to the Pacific Islands from $1,499.
