Alfa Romeo, the rendering of the LMP GT1 prototype for Le Mans

History and speed are two concepts that Alfa Romeo has always combined. The famous Biscione brand, in fact, throughout its existence has been able to create splendid road cars and real racing cars, four-wheeled thoroughbreds that have written – and still do – the rules of the automotive world. In January 2019, the Turin company he dreamed of the 24 Hours of Le Mans thanks to an emotional rendering: LMP GT1.

A sporty “Biscione” in its DNA

Alfa Romeo is one of those names that you know and respect even if you don’t know anything about cars. The Turin company, in fact, has always stood out not only on the road, where it is still at the top with the most famous models, Giulia and Stelvio, in innovations, as evidenced by the Junior hybrid or the possible Brera, but also in sport. Its roots in motorsport are intertwined with the different specialties. To name one, the Formula 1: it’s true, in the recent period in which it raced in this Ferrari-powered category as a single team with the Swiss Sauber it didn’t leave huge traces but it has been part of the pinnacle of the queen category since its birth.

We cannot forget the victory of 1950 World Championship: it was the first year ever of the F1 World Championship and the first team to become world champion was Alfa Romeo with Nino Farinaon 13 May of that year at Silverstone in a supercharged Alfetta 158. And we can’t exactly talk about luck, as the team repeated the following year with the next model, the 159, thanks to the skilful guidance of a name of the stature of Juan Manuel Fangio. Furthermore, Alfa Romeo also boasts the absolute record of victories in the Mille Miglia, a category in which it is so well known that years later, in 2024 we still see it together with Nicola Larini. To cut a long story short, Alfa Romeo has had too many successes to mention in this short paragraph.

In 2019, however, there was a glimmer of news born from social media. Sean Bull Designalready known for having created the designs of several other Biscione racing cars in the past, has warmed things up with a brand new proposal. The prototype he presented, infarri, would have seen an Alfa Romeo car in the WEC, the Endurance category, which includes one of the most famous and loved events on the automotive scene, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The beauty of a render: let’s get to know the LMP GT1

With this project in mind, the designer had created a new called prototype Alfa Romeo LMP GT1, where LMP stands for “Le Mans Prototype”. If you look at the render, you can recognize the trefoil at first glance, the shield. The grille, then, is in the shape of an Alfa triangle while the headlight unit has headlights particular and evocative, more sharp but which recall the unmistakable design of the headlight unit of those years of Giulia – which in 2024 offers interesting setups – and Stelvio.

As for the aesthetic elements of the car, among the main and notable ones are the air vents very large, the aerodynamic element positioned on the lower part of the bumper that we all know as splitterabove which the fins are placed and then there is also a aileron large rear which in fact shows its presence with character by protruding from the bottom of the Alfa Romeo LMP GT1. This is the true sports car designed by Sean Bull Design, showing the brand’s Italian pride with the tricolor flag on the bonnet.
