Half a million merchants now use Alibaba International’s suite of generative AI tools, and API calls are doubling every two months. Building on this success, the B2B e-commerce platform plans to continue developing these tools.
Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly critical role in improving operational efficiency for merchants across Alibaba International’s e-commerce platforms. Collectively, these platforms have applied l‘Generative AI for 40+ e-commerce scenarios, from product list refinement, marketing, customer service, process design and automation. In each use case, generative AI has led to statistically significant increases in content quality, click-through rates, conversion rates, or customer satisfaction, sometimes in the double digits.
Thus, Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group now has 500,000 retailers who have adopted its suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools generative in more than 40 e-commerce scenarios. Since deploying these solutions last November under the brand name “Aidge”, the average daily calls to the application programming interface (API) have doubled every two months, now exceeding 50 million.
Fonctionnalities
Currently, over 100 million product listings on Alibaba International platforms have been refined and adapted into multiple languages using AI, thus enabling traders to increase their market reach and increase the conversion rate of purchases.
Thanks to AI, e-tailers are also able to reduce their product sourcing costs. For example, Alibaba International’s virtual try-on feature helps clothing sellers easily create images of their products on virtual mannequins, all by simply uploading an image of a clothing item. It offers a wide selection of styles, which allows to represent various products while offering to traders an economical alternative to traditional photoshoots with models.
Now, AI capabilities go beyond basic functions such as translation and text and image generation. By leveraging AI’s advanced capabilities in personalization and complex problem solving, Alibaba International has applied technology in areas such as customer service, the fight against chargebacks and refunds.
A first step
Building on this initial success, Alibaba International is now launching an AI refund agent, offering merchants and consumers a more flexible refund solution. With the aim of optimizing customer satisfaction while by reducing merchant costs, This automated tool efficiently processes the reasons for disputes related to transactions made on e-commerce platforms and verifies the evidence in order to calculate refund amounts for merchants.
To expand the scope of AI benefits, Alibaba International also works with external partners in the field of cross-border e-commerce.
