Following the spirit of modern technology, OnePlus today announced the arrival of its new OnePlus Nord 4 and the presentation was made through him Summer Lunch Event of the company in Milan, Italy. In this new smartphone we notice a design that goes against the current trends and even a metal unibody design was chosen that reminds us of something from the past!
The description began by mentioning how the new phone packs a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 with 8GB, 12GB or 16GB of RAM. Storage is either 128GB UFS 3.1 or 256GB/512GB UFS 4.0. Particular emphasis was placed on the display of the device, as we have a 6.74-inch Super Fluid AMOLED panel that has a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a resolution of 1240p. It has a hole for the 16 MP front camera.
If we stand at the back, we have a 50MP main sensor with OIS and EIS and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The main camera can record videos in up to 4K resolution and 60 fps.
The Nord 4 has a 5,500mAh battery with 100W wired charging support that helps it reach 100% in less than 30 minutes. However, you will need to purchase the original adapter/charger separately because you won’t find it in the original packaging.
The battery will retain at least 80% of its capacity after 1,600 full cycles, which should be due to fast charging causing excessive degradation.
OnePlus’ aim was to adopt the use of a metal unibody which required innovative solutions. They relocated the U-shaped antennas and added small pillars inside the back cover of the phone, effectively halving the size of the antenna and further enhancing signal transmission.
The name of the new design is called Nordtones and the phone is available in Mercurial Silver, Oasis Green και Obsidian Midnight.
Incidentally, OnePlus also introduced the Nord 4 as the first international mid-range chipset phone with AI. Features enabled are AI Audio Summary, AI Note Summar and AI Linkboost which reconnects to mobile networks “faster than ever”.
Also, the Nord 4 offers an AI Groupfie feature that artificially changes people’s eyes in group shots so that no one goes out without closed eyes!
Moving on to the software, we have Oxygen OS 14.1 based on Android 14 and OnePlus has promised 4 Android version updates and 6 years of security updates, which means it will be supported until 2030.
In Europe, the OnePlus Nord 4 costs £429/€499 for the 12/256GB version, while the top-of-the-line 16/512GB option costs £529/€599. Pre-orders are already open and those who pre-order will receive free Nord Buds 3 Pro TWS headphones and a €50 discount if they choose the larger storage version. Open sales start on August 8th.
