Double from the Popular Party’s favorite DJ to close the Madrid party calendar. DJ Pulpo will complete the weekend of hiring by the Madrid City Council at the Salamanca district Festivals, as announced by the council a week before his performance.
The host of the Cope radio station, Carlos Moreno, will perform on Friday, October 11 at 10:30 p.m., within the festival programming of a district where he repeats his presence, since he passed through the Eva Perón park stage in 2021 .
One day before, DJ Pulpo will be opening the Barrio del Pilar Festival in Fuencarral, where the City Council has made room for him to include him in a program in which a music play show was not planned for that day.
In the case of the Salamanca Festival, musical performances will have a minimum cost of between 1,210 euros and 3,360 euros per gig, according to the contract document to which this newspaper has had access. The competition for the organization of these celebrations and those of the following year was won by the company Madriz, Servcios Tecnicos Culturales for 223,000 euros.
The best-known DJ in the PP
DJ Pulpo is a regular at the celebrations of the town halls governed by the PP, as he is also on election nights in Genoa, where he usually acts as musical master of ceremonies for party supporters.
Asked about the predilection of this artist and other artists close to the PP with several public contracts in recent parties, the City Council denied this summer in responses to Somos Madrid any type of favoritism with respect to one group or another. Regarding the criteria for hiring artists, they explained that it is the companies that organize the different parties who offer a series of singers. They indicate that “the Boards choose based on cachet and availability” and assure that they think about what Madrid residents may like the most, opting for groups “attractive to the public.”
In the case of the Salamanca Festival programming, the District Board responsible for contracting is headed by Cayetana Hernández de la Riva. This is the fifth councilor to elect this DJ close to her party in 2024: they also did so in Tetuán, Vicálvaro and Chamberí, where he could not perform due to a last-minute unforeseen event. This district is the tenth municipal festival contract in Madrid for Carlos Moreno since 2022.
That of the Pulpo is the name that is most repeated within a list of musicians usually hired by PP councilors such as DJ Nano, Tam Tam Go!, La Frontera or Nacha Pop, according to the investigation recently published by this newspaper. They are all hired through third-party companies, which are the winners of municipal tenders for organizing parties.
