This incident took place in Choumuhani area of ​​Dighinala-Longadu road of Khagrachari at around 9:30 am on Tuesday. Bailey Bridge collapses due to trucks overloaded with lumber.
Small vehicles including motorcycles, CNG, Mahendra are plying on the alternative route, but heavy vehicles are closed. Road users are suffering due to this.
Local wood trader Mintu Chowdhury said that the road department has never monitored this bridge. That’s why the bridge is broken. People of Longadu, Merung area are suffering.
Monir Hossain, who travels on the road, said that traffic has been stopped since yesterday due to this bridge. I don’t know when the bridge will be fixed. Passengers are suffering endlessly as all types of buses are stopped.
Khagrachari Road Executive Engineer Maksudur Rahman said it will take another day to complete the repair work of Bailey bridge.
He said that the repair work could not be completed as the pillars of the bridge were damaged. Traffic will be normal from tomorrow Thursday afternoon.
