DAPURPACUID – Honda’s car product series continues to have a place in the minds of the public. In fact, there are quite a few success stories of someone in various careers that started when they owned this car.
This success was explained in detail by Alvin Bahar and his son, Avila Bahar, at the ‘Honda Generation Story’ talk show at the 2024 GIIAS event, Sunday (21/7).
It turns out that behind his skill behind the wheel when racing, he has an exciting story when using a Honda car. Even the story was played by Bahar’s Family from generation to generation.
Alvin explained that he had fond memories of Honda since he was a child, with his father, Aswin Bahar. He remembered the first moment with Honda when his father was racing a car.
“At that time I was still too young to drive a car. But I was impressed to see my father who always used Honda cars as his racing cars. This experience grew my love for Honda which continues to this day,” he said at the Honda booth.
Alvin’s love for Honda is further strengthened by the various models his family has owned. Almost all generations of Honda Civics have graced their garage.
In addition, they also once owned a Honda Jazz, City, and CR-V. The presence of Honda cars is said to be a silent witness to the journey and warmth of this family.
The moment of togetherness between a father and son can be felt from their togetherness when sharing stories. The father, with great enthusiasm, tells the moment of his son’s introduction, Avila, to the world of Honda.
“The first time I brought Avila to my racing practice, I asked her to take a picture with the Honda car I was using,” he later recalled to the media crew.
Avila also chimed in with the same enthusiasm. Since she was little, around the age of 5 or 6, she was often taken to see photos of Honda cars while being taught the names of each car.
“And I bought a diecast car too. In fact, I used to be invited to watch onboard racing videos so often that I memorized every sound of a Honda car,” Avila explained.
Get the nickname ‘Civic Family’
The love of this racer’s family for Honda is not only seen from their moments together, but is also proven by the nicknames they often receive from the public and fans.
The nickname ‘Civic Family’ has also been attached to Alvin’s family. It is acknowledged that the nickname came because this Honda sedan model is always in his garage.
“We were often called the ‘Civic Family’. Even in the photo shown here, I was still very young and it was always the same photo, with the Honda Civic,” he explained.
Not only stopping at the grandfather and father’s generation, the use of the Honda Civic has flowed down to Avila. As a generation Z racer, he also shared his story about the Honda Civic car.
Avila did not deny that he had been driving this ‘hereditary’ generation of Honda Civic for every activity, both for family events and when hanging out with friends.
For him, the Honda Civic is not just a car, but has become an inseparable part of his daily life. The love for this legendary car is passed down from generation to generation, strengthening the family bond and their love for Honda.
“Maybe because from my grandfather’s time until now, wherever I go, I always use a Honda Civic, from the first generation to the latest one now,” he added.
A True Friend in All Mobility
For Avila, Honda is not just a car brand, but has become a means of mobility that accompanies every phase of her life. Since childhood, Honda has accompanied her in various important moments.
From her daily life to her achievements in racing. Avila enthusiastically shared her first experience of going to the circuit with her father, accompanied by a Honda car.
He also recalled his first moment taking a car for a road trip, feeling the togetherness of driving with his father. Likewise when he competed on the race track.
In various car racing events, both domestic and international, the car brand with the ‘H’ logo always accompanies and even contributes to the achievement of positive achievements.
The achievement was obtained through the 2023 Indonesia Touring Car Race 1500 racing season, where Avila managed to win the National Champion. He also won the MTC Class title at the Malaysian Championship Series Race Winner this year.
Alvin also shared his memorable moment when he represented Honda in the National Championship held by the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), in 2006-2008, making him the national champion for three consecutive years.
In the event attended by various car manufacturers, he became Honda’s representative on the IMI racing commission. As an organization, Avila continued, IMI is very accommodating of regulatory adjustments for the benefit of various brands.
“While other brands are busy reporting some of their product weaknesses to get regulatory dispensation, Honda does not ask for anything because our car does not have any weaknesses that need to be anticipated, and all of that is proven on the track, I managed to become the national champion for 3 consecutive years,” he said.
Avila firmly stated that Honda’s story of togetherness will not stop with the current generation, but will continue to future generations in his family.
And he promised to tell all the beautiful moments together to his children and to the next generation.
“Hopefully, Honda will remain a pioneer in innovation and technology in the automotive world, and we hope to always be a part of Honda,” he concluded. (dpid/TH)
