The Amazon eero Outdoor 7 is a networking device designed to extend Wi-Fi coverage beyond the walls of a home or business and thus provide connectivity for outdoor activities and devices.
Eero, a specialist in mesh networks and today owned by Amazon, has a wide product catalog which is sold on the e-commerce giant’s platform. It has routers, adapters and extenders of various power and price levels. But until now I didn’t have a network extender specifically intended for outdoors.

It is the first of its kind and aims to extend the Wi-Fi signal outside the home. It is designed to withstand adverse weather conditions such as extreme temperatures, rain and snow and they say from Eero that it has been tested in a variety of environments, “from the heat of Arizona to the cold of Alaska”. It is certified with IP66 ratingwhich means it is resistant to dust and water jets.
Users can mount the device to many types of walls, including stucco, vinyl, wood, and fiber cement. It also has a 2.5 GbE port that admits Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), which means it can be powered by an eero PoE Gateway or a separate 30W Outdoor PoE+ power adapter.
An Amazon eero Outdoor 7 can cover an area of up to 1300 square meters (always talking about outdoors), but you can scale to whatever is necessary using multiple devices, creating a point-to-point connection and extending the network. This extender includes the same technology and features found in other eero devices, such as TrueMesh networking, TrueChannel, and TrueRoam. These features should help ensure that the user’s Wi-Fi works well, regardless of location.
The device supports the latest wireless standard, Wi-Fi 7, and offers speeds of up to 2,1 Gbps. It also works as a smart home hub and is compatible with Thread, Zigbee and Matter devices. It also supports the eero Plus service, which has online security features, parental controls, internet backup during outages, and access to security apps such as 1Password, Malwarebytes, and Guardian.
The Amazon eero Outdoor 7 will be available on November 13, 2024 by $349 ($399 with 30W Outdoor PoE+ Power Adapter). It can be purchased on the brand’s platform and at other retailers.
