Amazon is recruiting 8,000 seasonal workers to support peak holiday activity

To maintain the pace of its peak activity planned for the end-of-year holidays, Amazon is recruiting more than 8,000 seasonal workers in its logistics sites in France.

Amazon, which currently employs 22,000 permanent employees in France, recruits more than 8,000 seasonal jobs to support its peak of activity in France. Positions for order preparers and sorting agents are to be filled in the distribution centers, sorting centers and e-retailer agencies.

This seasonal peak of activity is linked to the end-of-year holiday period, always synonymous with an increase in orders, but also with demands from customers: “These 8,000 recruitments are essential to strengthen our teams and guarantee the customer experience to which the French are accustomed”underlines Patrick Labarre, President of Amazon France Logistics.

Take care of your employer brand

To make itself attractive when it opens seasonal positions, the e-commerce giant is working on its employer brand. Indeed, it seeks to offer a quality working environment, as well as attractive remuneration. When hired, the hourly salary of logistics agents amounts to 12.60 euros. After two years on a permanent contract, the agents’ remuneration reaches 2,300 euros, including a 13th month and a value-sharing bonus. Added to this are a certain number of advantages such as a participation system, a collective company retirement savings plan, various bonus mechanisms or even an additional month of paid paternity/maternity leave. The e-retailer specifies that from 2025, its employees will receive an annual bonus of 2,000 to 4,000 euros depending on their positions.

This work on the employer’s reputation seems to be bearing fruit. Indeed Amazon explains that 8 out of 10 logistics site employees (81%) would recommend their loved ones to come and work there and plan to do so in the coming years. Patrick Labarre specifies: “many of our seasonal workers continue the adventure on permanent contracts to build a long-term career.”

Support skills development

Beyond remuneration, Amazon wants to support the development of the qualifications of its teams, particularly to prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow. Thus, the marketplace plans to invest 50 million euros by 2030 to promote the skills development of its employees in France.

This sum will be used to finance new training programs, as well as in the improvement of existing programs. These have already enabled more than 5,300 employees of Amazon logistics sites to obtain diplomas recognized by the State or to follow certification training to acquire new skills in data science, mechatronics or even engineering professions. health since 2021.
