Amazon Prime Video adds AI-generated summaries –

The company promises that artificial intelligence will avoid spoilers when summarizing the content of the series.

Amazon earlier this week announcedthat it has expanded its streaming platform with a new function: AI-generated summaries have been added to Prime Video, which briefly summarize the content of the series available in the service provider’s offer, spoiler-free, according to the company’s promise.

According to Amazon’s statement, the AI-based system creates “short, easy-to-understand text summaries” of entire seasons, individual episodes or even specific scenes of TV shows, but only up to the point the viewer has reached in the show, thus avoiding spoilers.

Prime Video users will initially be able to use the new feature, dubbed X-Ray Recaps, for all of Amazon’s MGM Studios original series. It’s already in beta on Amazon Fire TV-connected devices in the US, with support expanding by the end of the year.

X-Ray Recaps only summarizes events up to the point the user has reached, so it’s designed to avoid spoilery plot points.

“With this context-aware feature, Prime Video provides viewers with recaps of important moments and key events, so they can easily return to an episode or relive their favorite moments from the series.”

– said Adam Gray, Vice President of Prime Video Product.

The X-Ray Recaps function is based on Amazon’s Bedrock infrastructure, but Amazon’s unique AI models trained on the SageMaker platform also participate in the preparation of the summaries.
