Amazon wants to enter the UK telecom market – Telecommunications

The technological giant Amazon wants to enter the British telecommunications market, through the provision of broadband internet, indicates this Sunday the Sunday Times, citing a document sent to the regulator.

The company led by Jeff Bezos wants to provide the service within one to two years.

It is an intermediate step for Amazon as it develops its subsidiary Kuiper, a project that aims to launch small satellites into Earth orbit to compete directly with Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink.

When Kuiper is fully operational, Amazon intends to provide satellite internet, promising a network even in the most remote areas.

Although there are already several companies with the same ambitions, SpaceX’s Starlink is a leader in the sector, with 6,000 satellites in space and four million customers worldwide.

Kuiper intends to differentiate itself by allowing users to connect directly to satellites, instead of via terminals, as is the case with Elon Musk’s project.
