Lenovo unveils the first Ryzen AI 300 PRO laptop in its ThinkPad series, with the 8-core Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360

AMD isn’t done with its ‘Strix Point’ APU line yet, as the firm is planning another release, possibly related to the speculated ‘PRO’ SKUs within the Hawk Point line. Earlier we saw numerous rumors about ‘Ryzen AI 300 PRO’ APU models; however, Lenovo has decided to reveal new details, introducing a laptop based on the AMD Ryzen AI 300 PRO APU, which is the ThinkPad T14 Gen 6.

The news comes from media source Liliputing, which claims that Lenovo’s upcoming laptop will have AMD Ryzen AI 300 PRO architecture, which will be the first product to integrate this “unreleased” APU.

In terms of specifications, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 is expected to debut with AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360 APU, which consists of three Zen 5 cores and five Zen 5C cores in a 3+5 configuration, making a total of 8 cores. It also features a Radeon 880M iGPU, based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture.

In addition, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 has a 14-inch IPS LCD screen with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a decent design, in line with previous ThinkPad models. In terms of memory and storage, the laptop offers up to 64GB of LPDDR5x-7500 memory and support for a 1TB PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD, making it very well equipped in this segment.

For connectivity, the ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 comes with Thunderbolt 4 ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and 1 x HDMI 2.1. The laptop also supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, which is in line with modern standards. Interestingly, Lenovo also offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite version with the X1E-78-100 SKU, so it will be interesting to see how it compares to the upcoming Ryzen AI 300 PRO model. The AMD variant is listed at $1,700, while the Qualcomm variant is listed at $1,754.

AMD’s final Hawk Point APUs are expected to hit the market by October 10th, around the Advancing AI 2024 event. Since these APUs are more oriented towards professional use, we won’t see much difference in raw performance, but there will be certain exclusive features in the PRO variants.
