AMD’s new integrated graphics card rivals older dedicated graphics cards

AMD’s new Radeon 890M integrated graphics achieves Geekbench results comparable to the eight-year-old Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card. Progress at last?

The latest integrated graphics from AMD, Radeon 890M RDNA 3.5, was tested in the Geekbench benchmark and achieved results comparable to the eight-year-old Nvidia GTX 1070 dedicated graphics card.

Benchmarks were performed on an Asus ProArt P16 notebook with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. In the OpenCL test, the system scored 42,932 points, which is just above the result of the AMD Radeon RX 580. In the Vulkan test, the Radeon 890M scored 46,298 points, which is practically the same as the GTX 1070, which scored 46,299 points.

The Radeon 890M’s performance is also close to the GTX 1650 Ti, which scored 44,708 points. The 890M chip is only 15% weaker than the GTX 1650 Super, which is quite a good result considering that the GTX 1650 is the second most popular GPU on the market according to the Steam database.

While the results on Geekbench are promising, it’s important to take them with a grain of salt. Actual game performance may be different, so user reviews will be needed. Only then can we say that integrated graphics have made progress.
