CHINA’S Ministry of Commerce has called on relevant countries to resist US economic coercion in the semiconductor sector.
The spokesman of the ministry said this yesterday after media reports that the US is considering stricter measures to put pressure on companies from countries such as Japan and the Netherlands to limit trade in chips with China to a greater extent, China International Radio reported.
The ministry said China hopes relevant countries will adhere to market principles and the spirit of their treaties, resist economic coercion coming from the US, and work together to preserve the stability of global industrial and supply chains.
The semiconductor sector is highly globalized after decades of growth, and this is the result of market law and the choices made by companies, the spokesperson said.
