If you want to ride in an armored luxury limousine like the President of the United States, you will soon have the opportunity. The only prerequisite is that you come to Florida later in the month and bring a considerable amount of money – namely, there will be an auction of a number of collector vehicles organized by the auction house Mecum Auctions.
It will feature the only US presidential limousine ever sold as private ownership, in original condition and almost unused.
It is a Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham from 1996, in the Presidential edition, and only three copies were made for the transportation of then-President Bill Clinton. A total of three similar vehicles were made, which cost the US authorities 6 million dollars at the time. As he states Autonet.hr, one copy is in the Clinton Presidential Museum, the second is in the possession of the CIA, and the third will now be offered at auction as an exclusive copy of the armored limousine intended for the transportation of the president.
Compared to the classic Cadillac model, this one has a cabin raised by 7.5 cm, is equipped with bulletproof glass and bodywork, has built-in fire extinguishing and oxygen supply systems, special bulletproof tires and many more safety equipment. Under the hood is Chevrolet’s “big block” V8 engine with about 450 HP, and the car has only traveled a thousand kilometers. The auction house did not specify the estimated selling price, since it is a unique example, so there is no precedent for how much the presidential limousine could be worth on the open market.
