Yum, which operates the KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell chains, also decided to remove the onions “out of an abundance of caution.” The vegetable has also disappeared from the menu of at least one Burger King restaurant in Colorado, writes Reuters.

Poisonings, as previously reported, were recorded in 10 states, with most cases occurring in Colorado. McDonald’s supplier Taylor Farms recalled several lots of yellow onions produced at a plant in the state following the incident.

The US Department of Health is currently continuing to determine whether onions are the source of the E. coli outbreak.

All of the victims, after eating McDonald’s burgers suspected of being contaminated with E. coli O157, ate the Quarter Pounder, a version of the Royal Cheeseburger previously sold in Russia.
