Foreign. An election judge in Minnesota, USA, has been arrested and charged with suspected election fraud during the 2024 election, reports Fox News. The accusations concern that he allowed undocumented people to vote without identifying themselves.

Timothy Michael Scouton served as the chief judge during the election in part of Minnesota and is accused then of accepting votes from unregistered voters.

According to local authorities, Scouton is said to have allowed 11 people to vote without first registering properly, which is against election rules.

Instead of using the mandatory registration forms, he instructed his colleagues to have voters write their names on the back of a book. This despite the fact that Scouton underwent election judge training earlier this year.

The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office confirms that Scouton has been arrested but declined to provide an explanation.

Minnesota’s secretary of state calls the allegations “extremely serious” and stresses the importance of election judges following the law to maintain public trust.

Election fraud is a charged topic in the United States, especially during an election year characterized by political polarization.
