Political scientist and Americanist Malek Dudakov predicted the policies of Marco Rubio as US Secretary of State.
“The approval of a character like Rubio shows that the main vector of the Trump administration’s foreign policy will be the Middle East – containing Iran – and the confrontation with China in the 21st century, because it is China that the Republicans now see as their opponent,” he said in an interview with the TV channel “Star”.
According to him, the Republicans may proceed from the fact that they do not have enough resources to simultaneously confront China, Iran and Russia, so they will try to shift responsibility for the fate of Ukraine to Europe or somehow agree with Moscow to freeze the situation.
“The new administration will try to refocus on other areas, and this means that in some aspects it will be easier for us to work,” Dudakov concluded.
Earlier, Senator Mark Rubio, who may become US Secretary of State under Donald Trump, promised that he would seek “peace by force” and put US interests above all else.
