AMETEK announced on October 31 the acquisition of the company Virtek Vision Internationala leading provider of high-end laser projection and inspection systems. Virtek specializes in the development and manufacture of advanced 3D laser projectors, smart cameras and quality control inspection systems that are equipped with artificial intelligence-driven software and algorithms.
Its innovative machine vision solutions provide customers with precise, virtual, laser-guided measurement and inspection capabilities that help automate complex assembly processes and increase manufacturing efficiency in a wide range of aerospace, defense and industrial applications.
According to David A. Zapic, Chairman and CEO of Ametek, Virtek is an excellent acquisition and a great strategic fit with the Creaform division. Its strong technological capabilities nicely complement those of Creaform, enabling a wider set of automated 3D scanning and inspection functions supported by advanced software and algorithms.
Virtek is based in Waterloo, Canada, and its annual turnover is approximately $40 million. Virtek will join Ametek as part of its Electronic Instruments Group (EIG) – a leader in advanced analytical, monitoring, test, calibration and imaging instruments.
