The fans are mourning. An actor known from the series M*A*S*H or the movie Friday the 13th has succumbed to cancer.
Popular actor Whitney Rydbeck has died at the age of 79. Viewers may remember him from the famous series MASH, where he portrayed the character of Sergeant “Hondo” McKee. His biggest role was one of the characters in Friday the 13th 6: Jason Lives. We could see him in several sitcoms and the movie Rocky II.
Rydbeck breathed his last on Monday, July 15.
A link to heaven
The information was brought by the director of the aforementioned film Friday the 13th, Tommy McLoughlin. He revealed it on his Instagram.
“We have lost not only a truly funny comedian and actor… but also one of the finest human beings I have ever known. God bless you and rest in peace Whitney Rydbeck. Our loss is heaven’s gain.” he wrote director.
He battled cancer
At the end of his career, he focused on advertising campaigns. He even taught acting at Pasadena City College.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that Whitney Rydbeck had died at a California hospice in Chatsworth.
According to foreign media, the actor succumbed to complications related to prostate cancer.
