an atypical mid-range smartphone

In a month of July that is busier than usual for smartphone manufacturers, OnePlus stands out. The firm unveils a slew of new products, including a watch, a tablet, headphones and a new smartphone. The OnePlus Nord 4 succeeds the Nord 3 and revives the trend of the metal shell. This single-block structure gives a certain style to this smartphone which nevertheless retains classic lines (7.99 mm thick). It claims the status of the only 5G monocoque smartphone on the market (in the markets where OnePlus operates). The Alert Slider is also present on this model with its enticing configuration.

A generous, single-shell smartphone

As is often the case with OnePlus, the technical sheet is ambitious. The OnePlus Nord 4 offers a 6.74-inch AMOLED screen displaying a 1.5K definition (1240 x 2772 pixels), with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The panel offers a peak brightness of 2,150 nits and supports HDR10+.

The smartphone features a Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 SoC, which claims an AnTuTu score of 1,500,000. This Qualcomm chip arrives with 12 to 16 GB of RAM and 256 to 512 GB of storage (in France) in UFS 4.0. The photo section includes two photo sensors on the back and a front camera, distributed as follows:

  • 60MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor (f/1.8, OIS)
  • Ultra grand-angle de 8 Mpx (f/2,2, 112°)
  • 16MP front camera (f/2.4)

The smartphone adds a massive 5,500mAh battery, which is compatible with 100W fast charging. OnePlus promises a full charge of the device in 28 minutes. For example, OnePlus explains that it only takes 5 minutes of charging to watch Netflix for 5 hours.

Despite its (very) fast charging, the device claims more than 1,600 charge cycles while keeping its battery at 80% of its capacity. This is equivalent to approximately four years of use.

Long-term support and AI

2024 requires the brand to focus on artificial intelligence. It will be used in particular for writing messages (AI Editor), generating summaries (AI Summary) and for the magic eraser (AI Eraser).

Price and availability

The OnePlus Nord 4 arrives in France from 499 euros. This price concerns the 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage version. The variant with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage is displayed at 549 euros.
