AN END TO ILLEGAL PARKING ON RAMPS AND DISABLED READINGS BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF KIFISIA –

The Municipality of Kifissia, utilizing the possibilities of technology, puts an end to the illegal parking of vehicles at crossings and ramps for the disabled, through the installation of “smart” sensors.

So far, 56 special sensors have been installed in the center of Kifissia, Nea Erythrea and on Harilaou Trikoupi Street. Each sensor is displayed on an electronic map of the Central Violation Management System of the Municipal Police. Through the monitoring platform, data is received which informs about the status of the sensors and essentially about the occupation of the crossing or ramp by a vehicle preventing the passage of disabled people. The operations center of the Municipal Police is notified in real time of violations and through mobile devices, the municipal police officers are informed, who will intervene immediately.

“This work does not work punitively in any way. Smart sensors are a valuable preventive parking tool that reinforces the efforts of the Municipality of Kifissia, in ensuring accessibility and improving the daily life of our fellow citizens with disabilities, who are faced with the arbitrary behavior of dozens of drivers. Today, it is more important than ever to create the appropriate infrastructure and conditions for their seamless access, in all public spaces, so that our city becomes friendlier and more humane. We continue to work in order to reach the levels we all want” emphasized the Mayor of Kifissia, Vassilis Xipolytas, who together with members of the board of the Accessibility Committee, Nikolaos Georgoulis and Gerasimos Polis, closely followed the work and were informed about the progress of the project , by the Deputy Mayor of Infrastructure and Studies, Yiannis Dionysiotis who is in close cooperation with the Urban Mobility company for its execution.

In his statements, the chairman of the Accessibility Committee, Nikolaos Georgoulis, said: “the commitment of the Mayor of Kifissia, Vassilis Xipolytas, to the realization of this very social project, is being implemented. We are moving forward dynamically, we are trying and we will achieve our next goals for better accessibility in our municipality.”
