A terrible tragedy, the origin of which is still undetermined, occurred on Wednesday in Seine-et-Marne. According to the public prosecutor of Melun, Jean-Michel Bourlès, the hypothesis of the presence of explosives which would have been stored in the house by its former owner is favored. But assessments must be carried out to formally establish the cause of the explosion.

The deceased woman was born in 1993, according to the prosecution. A man, who managed to escape the scene alone after the explosion, was transported to a hospital in Paris “in serious condition”, said the department’s firefighters spokesperson. At the end of the afternoon, his vital prognosis was “no longer in jeopardy”, according to a police source.
