An Israeli airstrike hit a refugee camp, killing at least 12 people in the Gaza Strip

At least 12 people were killed and several others wounded in the al-Sati refugee camp in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, in a western quarter of Gaza City, on Thursday, when an Israeli airstrike hit a school building used as a shelter, the local civil defense said.

The officials added that a wave of refugees left the camp as a result of increasingly intense airstrikes since dawn, in which, according to the organization’s spokesperson, a total of 27 people had lost their lives in the attacks since dawn.

According to local residents, since the start of the Israeli ground attack launched on October 5 in the northern part of the zone, aid shipments have not been able to arrive in Jabaliya, the neighboring Beit Hanun, and Beit Lahia either. The Israeli army (IDF) denied that it would prevent aid from reaching its destination.

Israel justified the new offensive launched on Wednesday by saying that it wants to eliminate Hamas militants gathered and hiding in Jabali and Beit Lahia and to stop rocket attacks launched from Gaza City. Fifty people of the Palestinian Islamist organization were killed in these places in the last 24 hours.

The IDF issued an evacuation order for the northern part of the Gaza Strip, where at least 30 people were killed in an airstrike on Monday night. In the Gaza Strip
