An old man named Mir Yusuf Ali (68) was allegedly strangled to death due to a land boundary dispute in Sitakunda. This incident took place in Joramatal area of Sonaichari union of the upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased Yusuf Ali was a former accounting officer of the Jute Mill.
The family of the deceased said that Yusuf Ali was killed by being thrown into the mud due to the illegal demarcation of the land.
Sitakunda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Rahman said that the family claims that he was strangled to death due to a border dispute. However, it was not possible to know the cause of his death. In this case, the family is preparing to file a case. The exact cause of the murder will come out after the post-mortem report.
