Composite company Exel Composites says that he won a tender in India for the supply of carbon fiber laths used in the support flanges of wind turbine blades to a Danish wind power company Vestas Wind Systemsille.

Carbon fiber laths are used in wing spans, which are an important support structure for wind turbine blades. The products are manufactured using the pultrusion method, a joint venture of Exel KECIn at a new factory in Goa, India. The plant is optimized to serve wind power industry customers in India and worldwide. KECI is from Exel Composites and Indian of Kineco Group a joint venture established in 2021.

The parties have started the approval process of the production facility in accordance with Vestas’ quality requirements, after which KECI will become an approved supplier of carbon fiber barns to Vestas worldwide. Deliveries are estimated to start in the last quarter of 2025. Exel does not disclose the value of the contract.

The agreement is a continuation of the multi-year framework agreement updated in 2023 and deepens the cooperation between the companies that started more than ten years ago.
